U.S. Roster Released for T&T Bout

Lost in all the Kenny Cooper commotion yesterday, I forgot to talk about the actual roster that was released by Bob Bradley for the upcoming World Cup Qualifier against Trinidad and Tobago.

The team released nine players while adding four.

Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Brian Ching, Michael Bradley, Jay DeMerit, Tim Howard, Steve Cherundolo, Oguchi Onyewu and Carlos Bocanegra were all sent back to their clubs. Meanwhile, Bob Bradley summoned Pablo Mastroeni, Robbie Rogers, Marvell Wynne and Jonathan Bornstein from their MLS sides.

The team that will be fielded on Wednesday in Port of Spain will most likely combine the few remaining veterans (DaMarcus Beasley, Pablo Mastroeni, Frankie Hejduk) with many of the inexperienced youngsters. Expect Freddy Adu, Jozy Altidore and Jose Torres to start after coming off the bench and demonstrating some impressive play on Saturday night.

The approach Bob Bradley is taking for this match will give him and the coaching staff a clearer picture of who is ready to contribute once the Hexagonal begins in 2009. This is a prime opportunity for guys on the border of making it into the National Team mix. A guy like Robbie Rogers or Danny Szetela could really make a case for one self with a solid performance against the Soca Warriors.

The game kicks off at 8:00 PM ET.

The 18 Man Roster

GOALKEEPERS (2): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Troy Perkins (Valerenga IF).

Happy with the roster? Excited that Robbie Rogers got called up? Will Bornstein start over Pearce? How do you think the likes of Adu, Altidore and Torres will do together? Share your thoughts below.
